BWAHAHAHA! Oh Gas Snake, I knew you cared! ♥
Linds, I received your gift yesterday as well! How subtly kinky of you. XD
I realized in conversation with firefly99 this morning that I used "OTP" when I meant "favorite pairing"... which brings me to this!
Poll #1503233 Because I really have to know on Christmas Eve.
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All, participants: 14Is there a difference between OTP and favorite pairing?
For me, I recognize that the pairings I enjoy best for reasons of aesthetic/chemistry/subtext are sometimes not the same as ones I find the most emotionally healthy or progressive for the characters. (There's an additional quandary to this in fandoms like Metal Gear where there's just seriously no such thing as a completely healthy relationship for anyone, but some are clearly just doing the best they can.)
However, it probably comes down to What OTP Means To You, which might be a far more prolonged discussion. Is it a True Pairing because it's positive, or because it excites you? Are there additional criteria?
And why is this fic 4,000 words and still not done?

...We might be sold out; I'm not sure. Depends on whether a few follow up on their reserves in the next few days. For now we still effectively have a few copies up for grabs.
If we can sell out here soon, wow, awesome Christmas gift. :D I love being out of debt. Well, mostly. I need to tally the final amounts and see if there's any deficit remaining. Stupid post office.
Also, I have cheesecake.
To the major negative, this fic is threatening to expand in epic fashion and augh. :\ Who wants to spend a part of their Christmas Eve doing an emergency hatchet job on this thing with me?

Finging a bike repair shop in LA is annoying. Half the people I called were really rude. Looks like I'm headed to the Bellflower Bike Shop.

K.A. (1:04:48 AM): oh my god |:| K.A. (1:04:55 AM): so I'm watching Maltese Falcon
bitstream (1:05:03 AM): uhhuh K.A. (1:05:21 AM): and there's a character in here who's a famous example of a gay character in classic cinema K.A. (1:05:57 AM): And when my instructors taught it, they'd always talk about how fashionably/flamboyantly he was dressed, how pretty he was, that he carried perfumed business cards K.A. (1:06:21 AM): they did not at any point mention that he pantomimed giving a blowjob to his ornamental cane. Bitstream (1:06:34 AM): !! K.A. (1:06:52 AM): yes, I had to pause and take that in for a moment. K.A. (1:07:00 AM): let me... let me screencap it Bitstream (1:08:22 AM): you'd think that would get a notable mention! K.A. (1:08:42 AM): this is why straight male professors should not teach subject matter like this K.A. (1:09:38 AM): ...oh my god K.A. (1:09:44 AM): oh my god you will not believe this Bitstream (1:12:08 AM): ? K.A. (1:12:15 AM): one second ( screencaps ) K.A. (1:17:06 AM): he puts his lips on it and starts to move down K.A. (1:17:17 AM): only slightly K.A. (1:17:25 AM): it's the angle I'm surprised by Bitstream (1:17:56 AM): point. and a rather suggestive handle really, put in that context K.A. (1:18:37 AM): I will never be able to unsee this now. K.A. (1:26:48 AM): I should make note that Humphrey Bogart is just staring at him the entire time Bitstream (1:26:57 AM): haha K.A. (1:27:12 AM): when he first walks in, the camera does one of those subtle push ins like when a teenage boy sees a totally hot babe K.A. (1:27:25 AM): I'm not even exaggerating K.A. (1:27:27 AM): wtf this film

| APROPOS OF JAMES CAMERON AND CASUAL RACISM... |
[19 Dec 2009|03:39pm] |
Watching the Terminator 2 director's cut, I've realized I've never actually seen the film before. Granted that it could also be I haven't watched even a bad edit of it in half a decade or more, but I'm amazed how many effect shots they cut out of the standard version. That or I have a seriously bad memory for all of the T-1000's little quirky moments.
Man. Is it terrible that I want to repurpose my Prowl icons and actually play this guy somewhere?
And I will call him Todd for the lulz.

[18 Dec 2009|01:52pm] |
gilliotina: I received your gift! Thank you so much! With this I'll finally be able to make up for lapsing on packages for so many seasons.
Annnd question meme from tarastara. Comment and I will give you five questions.
The ones I got from her:
1. where in the world would you love to live? more than one place is acceptable.
I love Los Angeles. Dirty, busy Los Angeles where I can always do my grocery shopping at 3 AM in a fit of boredom and I can always find somewhere selling bulgogi with a side of kimchee. I'm sure I'd appreciate living somewhere quiet but I really think the ideal place for me is a cramped, disgusting metropolis, somewhere where I can go on foot or public transit to reach anything. I like walking and zoning out, I like something besides large chains occupying every store front, and I love being able to see a goddamn movie without taking a two hour train ride to reach a place that has it. 2. if you could steal anyone's looks, who would it be?
I actually do not mind my present appearance, insofar as I know no one's ever going to do me favors because of it. If I'm stealing someone's face anyway, can't I just be a Na'Vi? I want a tail so bad. 3. which (past or present, obv) decade is your favorite?
The 90s had a lot in common with the 20s, so the 20s might've been nice. Spiritually, the 00s coincide with the 80s, however, and as much as I see the logic to that, I don't want to go back to the 80s, thanks. I actually don't mind the aughts? We have a mixed-race president, the Large Hadron Collider's searching for god particles, half of all American adults game, a series of fantasy books-turned-movies is tied for the largest Oscar win of all time, and fusion sushi is no big deal. This is the time to be a geek. 4. what is your favorite style of shoe?
OMGSHOES. Uhhh I'm fashion-illiterate actually so I have no idea. As much as I Don't Get how any self-respecting feminist can go within 12 feet of Bayonetta, I think her gun boots are awesome. 5. how good are your high-fives on a scale of one to ten?
Seven at least, if I do say so myself. In my younger days I was even a master of the down-low-too-slow combo, but these days my conscience prevents me from employing such dirty tactics. *hairflip*
